Vote Smart, Stop Ghost Projects
Hidden things always make people doubt—and ghost projects are the same.
Roads that go nowhere, flood control works that disappear, or buildings that are never finished show that money for the people can disappear if we don’t pay attention. These are not just mistakes—they can put lives and safety at risk.Government money is meant for schools, hospitals, roads, and protection from disasters. Every peso matters. When projects are not finished or go missing, people get frustrated and lose trust in leaders.
Citizens should check the past record of those running for office. Picking leaders who are honest and care about transparency makes a big difference. A leader who promises flood control but leaves canals unfinished cannot be ignored.
The new DPWH Transparency Portal lets citizens check if projects are real. We can see project details, photos on maps, and even live bidding. By watching closely, the public can make sure money goes to the right projects. Ghost projects lose power when people don’t stay silent.
Teaching ourselves and our neighbors about how the government works is also important. Knowing about budgets, contracts, and public projects helps people notice problems early. It’s not enough to vote once and wait; citizens must keep asking questions and demanding answers. Transparency only works if we use it.
Ghost projects don’t have to happen. They come from carelessness. By voting smart, staying alert, and choosing honest leaders, Filipinos can make sure public money is used for the people. Money, projects, and lives are too important to waste—and change starts with our votes.
